Kids Make Me Laugh
My kids make me laugh. For those with children, I assume this is not a new thing. Kids are funny. The things they do. The things they say. They can be funnier than the best comedian. They can also be a gigantic pain in the stones, but we aren’t going to discuss that today because they’ve been behaving. It’s not fair to point out their issues when they’re being good. Right?
On separate occasions this week the boys have both accidentally kneed themselves in the eye. I can’t even get my knee close to my eye, let alone hit it with any force. The Little One walked into the front door this weekend. Not in a wasn’t looking kind of way, but more of a who put that there kinda of way. He even gave it a dirty look. I fell off the sofa.
When not injuring themselves, I find myself laughing at their word choice. The other day, the Little One pointed out that “Evil witches are usually killed in their lair”. As an author, I love his choice of the word lair. I still giggle thinking about it. The Boy calls the bread at our local Italian restaurant grease knots and I have to admit that it’s a much more accurate description than whatever they call it there.
In a move I am sure their future selves will appreciate, I have decided to start collecting these gems in a notebook. A journal of all the little stories and comments that make me and The Wife laugh. Do you have some of your own? Share them in the comments below.
Adam,
Kids make me laugh all the time! Great idea to keep a journal of the latest funny bone tickle!
Here is link to my blogpost about a funny story with my 2 yr old daughter. Ironically it was the same weekend as your debute of the trailer for the new book!
She only wants her bananas monkey style!

Thanks for sharing Amy. I love it. The Little One eats his Hot Dogs that way now. No buns. Monkey style. It's all about the monkeys at Casa Adam right now. 🙂
So many Trevorisms….so little time! LOL! I completely agree with you Adam…it is so entertaining to see how their little minds work! Then again…you and I have the same twisted sense of humor, (Mel Brooks, The Christmas Story Leg Lamp…need I say more?) so of course the kids are an absolute riot!! 🙂
So true Meg. The more they sound like us, the funnier I find it.
What a great post!
On Easter, my 4yo daughter called me Nicole. My son, 7, said, "Abby, don't call her that. Nicole was her name when she was little!" Too very funny!!! I guess Mommy is mostly my name now. HaaHaa
Thanks for sharing Nicole. Or do we all call you mommy now? So cute. I'm sure they keep you laughing.
