We Need a Better System!

I have a to do list. I think there is quite a bit of stuff on it too. I’d post a picture of it, but finding my to do list is the first item on my new to do list.

Funny thing about lists, we spend a decent amount of time putting them together, but they are pretty much worthless if you don’t take action on any of the items. I’ve tried digital lists, like Remember The Milk and Wunderlist. I’ve tried note boards and papers on the fridge. They all seem like great ideas at first. Then the newness wears off and I’m left with another list of stuff I’d rather put off.

It’s not all stuff that I want to put off. Some of it is stuff I want to do. Sending out goodies to people, or editing a MS to send to my agent, or reading book X. These are things that I want to make time for. My system just doesn’t make that easy.

So, I’m looking for a new system. It doesn’t need to be a to do list type thing. Just a way of tracking and organizing things. Colored folders? Balloons with flags on them? A selection of candies with stuff written on their wrappers?  What works for you? Let me know in the comments.

I’ve struggled with this too. And you know what works best for me? Writing it down old school style. Just got a new planner and I’m super excited about it.
